It has been a busy summer for the parish staff. I am grateful for the work that Charlie, Jennifer, and Steven do. A lot of ministry work is hidden and the efforts at preparation and planning are only seen when the year starts and suddenly there are events and programs that launch.
Small groups empower people, invite discussion, and invite you into a deeper relationship with others, yourself, and God. They offer an invitation to be open, connected, and even give and receive help in practical ways.
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a lay volunteer organization. Our purpose is to fulfill the two great commandments - love of God and love of neighbor.
First, break the ice by sharing about a time when you met someone for the first time who then became a close friend. What questions did you use to get to know that person?
I don’t think I fully appreciated what has been done and what we are doing as a community until I saw how passionately others spoke of what it means to be a “mission-oriented” parish at the Divine Renovation USA Conference in Dallas, Texas last month.
This week’s readings are a continuation of the Gospel readings from the past few weeks. They remind us that our lives reveal how the love of God can work through us. Throughout the ebb and flow of our lives we should expect and prepare to see God’s presence. We have been given a tremendous number of gifts and they should always be used wisely and carefully; so, that when the Lord appears we can present ourselves to Him and show Him how we used our gifts. He is part of our lives, and we are a part of His.
