I’ve fielded a few questions from friends at MQOA who have asked about how the parish is attending to the current synod of the Church, which is actually a synod ON synodality. In fact, today I just attended a great webinar which featured Sr. Nathalie Becquart who is a key member of the Synod.
This weekend and next we continue to dive into Advent with the theme of waiting and watching. We are given great visions from both the Old Testament and the Gospel reading. Prophets are ones who know the past, understand the present, and prepare us for the future. We can see and hear the great Prophet Isiah and his extraordinary vision and then the last prophet before Jesus in John the Baptist. We too are prophets who have a vision for the future in our own lives and in our parish.

Last week we wrapped up our 27th and 28th Alpha series. It is a very bittersweet moment. I will have fewer trips to BJ’s Warehouse in the future but I will miss seeing our guests and team each Wednesday. I will miss the great food and catching up with guests and praying with the team.
Our liturgical year ends this Sunday with the Feast of Christ the King. This feast day gives us a pattern to use for ourselves, our faith, and our community. Just like the end of a calendar year, this week gives us the opportunity for reflection and to recognize and be grateful for the prayer and blessings that have been given to us.
Members of the St. Vincent de Paul Society will be at the doors of the church after Mass on Sunday, October 9, to collect donations for the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Our own Fr. Murray and our “open door” ministry of hospitality. We continue to “meet people where they’re at”…even welcoming a dinosaur in to pray last night!
