After a couple of gloomy weeks, our Gospel turns hopeful, but not before your readers are challenged by some tricky vocabulary words! But fear not, I've put in some pronunciation help, right after the Gospel.
For a short time only, Project Nazareth is offering a free 4-week Advent series to help families prepare for the coming of Jesus. All you need to do is sign up and then each week you will receive the resources in your inbox (beginning November 21st). You also gain access to our Nazareth Nights, a virtual gathering for community among all Project Nazareth users.
Hey there Beta leaders!! Happy (official) (liturgical) New Year! (I mean it this time!) This week, Luke comes in with a bang, and as the days get darker and darker, we continue to examine the dark side of the story in scripture, too. I wonder how your guests will find Luke different from Mark, and how the Advent readings are folded into their actual experience of Advent. I want to remind you that Fr. Murray’s mini-course on Generosity in the Gospel of Luke begins this Sunday, in 3-D (that is, in person) at Immaculate Conception lower church. This four week series will be a great way to dive into the Lukan year, and we’d love to have your group join in the fun. Please share this link: https://fb.me/e/1T19hkDnL and please do join us. Okay with no further ado…

MQOA Sunday started as a video and audio program but after 20 episodes, we are changing the format a bit to help our listeners better prepare for Sunday Mass!
This is a small recording of the first time the people of this village in Tor, Nigeria have used the well that Mary, Queen of Apostles provided for this community.
Hello Beta Leaders! Ok so last week I said we say goodbye the Liturgical Year B and the Gospel of Mark, and that’s half-ish true. We’re done with the Gospel of Mark, but before we launch into Lit. Year C and Luke, we stop for a hot minute to check in with John and note the feast of Christ the King. I hope you’ll check out the interesting history of this relatively new feast in our Church. What will your group members think of the (let’s face it) political roots to this feast? I hope you have great conversations, as always.

With this week’s Beta, we say goodbye to Liturgical Year B and Mark, and hello to C and Luke! I’d love to hear what your group’s lasting impressions of the Gospel of Mark will be; what have you learned about the author’s values? What have you learned about Jesus, reading Mark’s stories about Him over the last year? What do you think the takeaways are for the Church, and for our parish? If your group is looking for a good way to dive into the Gospel of Luke, we invite you to join Fr. Murray for his teaching series on Generosity in the Gospel of Luke. It’s going to be great! It begins the first Sunday of Advent, November 28 at 3:30 PM at Immaculate Conception. That’ll be in person, and snacks and coffee will be served, so do plan to come!

This weekend, we will kick off a new chapter in the life of the parish. Twenty men from the parish have come together to form a new Knights of Columbus chapter. The Disciples In Salem Chapter will be organized according to the updated vision of the Knights. Their mission is to grow in faith, to form and support the community within the parish, and to serve the parish—individually and as a council.
