Thank You for Your Donations to the SVdP Christmas Fund Drive
Many thanks to all who donated to St. Vincent de Paul, Salem Conference, during this Christmas season. Over $10,000 were donated in cash and gift cards during the month of December, and because of an anonymous donor, your donation was doubled in value. This is truly a remarkable show of support, and aid to those in our community who are in need.
Your donations to SVdP this past year provided $129,957 to over 1,780 Salem residents in need of assistance - including $48,784 in housing assistance/eviction prevention, $6,812 in heating assistance, $15,181 in utility assistance, $51,261 in food assistance, and $7,919 for medical expenses, car repairs, beds, and bedding, furniture, and Charlie Cards. We gratefully acknowledge your generous donations in the past and during our annual fundraising drive.
In 2024, we anticipate increased requests for assistance, mainly due to the rising cost of food and rent. During the winter months, a dramatic increase in requests for utility and heating assistance is anticipated.
Please continue to consider making tax-deductible donations to the Society of St Vincent de Paul, Salem by placing a donation in one of the collection boxes or using the QR code in the Bulletin or by personal check to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, 158 Federal St, Salem, MA.
The next meeting of the SVdP will be on Monday, January 15, at 6:30 p.m. in the St. James Church Youth Room located behind St. James Church in the church parking lot.
