The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a lay volunteer organization. Our purpose is to fulfill the two great commandments - love of God and love of neighbor.
As our mission statement indicates we are "... a network of friends, inspired by Gospel values, growing in holiness and building a more just world through personal relationships with and service to people in need."
Members go in pairs as Jesus taught us to pay personal visits to homes and meet with families and individuals. When making calls. Vincentians determine first the immediate need, which frequently are food, clothing, utility assistance, or shelter. Material assistance is given on the basis of needs indicated and the needs determined by the visiting team.
Members seek to serve the distressed in our community and help where we can. We serve the poor in charity but are not an "agency." We are not professionally trained social workers. We strive to help through listening and help in any way we can. We quietly and discreetly aid those in need.
