I can't believe it is already August . . . Starbuck's Pumpkin Spice Lattes, Crisp Autumn nights and Family Formation are all just weeks away!!
Here at MQOA, we have been planning for September for many months but with it less than a month away, things are kicking into high gear. I have a mix of excitement and nervousness emotions.
Here is what is upcoming at MQOA in September. . .
Mass Changes
First, we will host all Masses at Immaculate Conception Church. IC is right downtown for visitors and walkable for some parishioners and will allow the family formation program to be surrounded by an English and Spanish Mass. I can not wait to welcome new and returning guests to Mass!
This means St. James Church will become our Celebration Church, where Christmas and Easter will be hosted for the large crowds that St. James can hold. I do dream of a day that we filled St. James weekly!
If you haven't heard already, we hired
Charlie Joyce as our Director of Hispanic Ministries! We have been praying for a while and God provided. With Charlie on board, all Family Formation, from First Communion to Confirmation to everything in-between and beyond, will be under one program for those who speak English and/or Spanish. But he does not stop at
Family Formation, Charlie will focus on Mass Ministries and applying the
MQOA Discipleship Pathway for the Hispanic community. Please welcome Charlie the next time you see it!
Alpha. Alpha? Alpha!
As we transform St. James Hall into the true Alpha Destination, we will host Alpha three times a week this fall. Hispanic Alpha will be on Mondays, Family Alpha on Tuesdays, and English Alpha on Wednesdays. With the new space and updated kitchen, we are taking Alpha to the next level this fall! If you haven't experienced
Alpha yet, please consider it this fall |
