I do not know if it because of my age or my skills . . . but I am the "tech" guy at work. I take my role seriously, trying to solve all tech problems around me. This leads to one task of mine - to promote all the great programs on social media and beyond.
For example, our first Young Adult Alpha just launched a couple of weeks ago. I made the online event on Facebook, added the information to the website, and promoted it across all of New England.
The results were coming in, we got higher numbers this time. People were engaging in the event, some were going, most were interested. I went to work on my weekly update to keep people interested and also showing little glimpses of what Alpha will be.
Well the night came, we gather as a team . . . a great team, and welcomed all our guests! It was great to see all the young adults' images popping up on the zoom window. Whoever invited the guest, would welcome them and a big hello and a smile . . . hiding the nervousness we were all feeling. The evening went great! We laughed. We grooved to the 90's playlist and even debated between NSYNC and Backstreet Boys (think Beatles vs Rolling Stones). Once everyone signed off and my screen when blank. . . I took a big breath.
"wow, that went great!"
I am writing this right after our second night. And for some reason, I have the energy to write something down and it had me thinking. All the guests on this Alpha were personally invited. The numbers from our promotion were not there, they were just "interested".
I am reflecting on this personal invitation. It is so powerful! It can make something happen. Is it magic? I think it kinda is . . this past year I reach into my relationships and invited them to join me . . and they said yes! From couples in
The Marriage Course to guests in the last
Alpha and the current one . . . I invited them and they said yes!
I am looking forward to all the great programs we at MQOA have planned for families, couples, adults both in English and Spanish. And I just can't wait to invite my friends to them!
